I highly recommend John's free YouTube series "Awakening from the meaning crisis".
I am very fortunate to have had several conversations with my friend and teacher Dr. John Vervaeke, a cognitive scientist, and philosopher who is transforming our understanding of meaning.
In this episode, we discussed the value of primal practices in the post-nominalist approach to awakening from the meaning crisis. Primal practices such as tracking, fire making, and the vision quest may be candidates for addressing the meaning crisis, enhancing dialogos, healing modal confusion, and pursuing wisdom.
What does post-nominalism mean?
A philosophical and scientific paradigm of wholeness that includes objects and their relationships is emerging in contrast to the familiar old “reality is just a bunch of tangible things” view of the world.
This is exciting to me because it implies that science may be able to investigate the trans-rational experiences that practitioners of the primal arts experience on a regular basis.
And that is exciting because our society is informed and makes decisions based upon the scientific paradigms of the time.
The quote I referenced:
“We need a trans-narrative dialectic practice that reconciles the nested emanation-emergence relationships. If we can enact the coming together of the emergent and emanating with an open-ended dialectic, which is an enacted symbol of the way that the logos of the universe unfolds.”
